Two planeloads of Leonorians told to 'go back where they came from'
June 8th 2010
PERTH, WA – Two plane loads of residents from the rural Western Australian town of Leonora arrived at Perth Airport late this afternoon.
The residents, made up of approximately 80 Leonorian men, women and children have been shipped to the state’s capital to await processing after outbursts regarding asylum seekers, some with extremely odd head gear, who have been relocated to the small community.
The move has been met with mixed feeling. A state government official who is overseeing the move says he can understand the confusion.
"Most of the negative feeling is, you know, people should go back where they come from," the official said. "That is the impression I got.”
Residents of Perth agree with these sentiments. When asked how they felt about the influx of the planepeople into their city, most were dubious.
“I don’t think those sorts of people should be allowed into our city,” one woman said bluntly. “I wouldn’t allow my grandchildren to mix with their children. Maybe I’m predjudiced, but I’m old and white so I guess I’m allowed to be.”
Officials say that the Lenorian asylum seekers could be held in Perth for up to 6 months while they undergo a basic education in the hope of reforming them from racist bigots to acceptable human beings.
The asylum seekers were not available for comment, as they aren’t real people anyway.
